This weeks field trip...

During the summer we try and go on weekly field trips.
This week we went to a famous candy store called Patsy's.
We toured the facility (no pictures were allowed inside) the kids got to see one of the biggest popcorn makers, a taffy making machine and pounds and pounds of chocolate.
They were pretty sick afterward from trying all of the samples!

One fun story they shared was about the founder, Patsy.
He came to Manitou Springs to recover from tuberculosis and started this amazing candy store.
He was big into poker and one night he felt there was no competition so he bet his famous and most secret popcorn recipe.
Turns out he lost and the men he was playing against took his famous popcorn recipe, added nuts and formed the company, 'Cracker Jack'.
So the moral of this story is, don't reveal your secrets or your competition may one day crush you!
